As the countdown to the inaugural Truck Efficiency Run (TER) powered by Krone begins, a new kind of challenge is coming to life on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. Two days before the Int. ADAC Truck Grand Prix kicks off, professional drivers from across Europe will take to the track – not in a race for speed, but in a competition where smart, efficient driving under real-world conditions is the ultimate goal.
Created by the promoter of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC), the TER marks a fresh take on performance. It’s about how well drivers can harness the potential of their trucks and complete a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife combined with the Grand Prix circuit, achieving optimal average speed with the most efficient fuel consumption. With Goodyear on board as an official partner, the event gains a powerful connection to innovation and efficiency in both transport and motorsport.
“Efficiency and sustainability have long been core pillars for us at Goodyear,” says Maximilian Weber, Sales General Manager Commercial DACH. “As title sponsor and exclusive tyre supplier of the Goodyear FIA ETRC, we’re excited to extend our commitment to efficient, forward-looking transport through our support of the TER.”
The partnership underlines Goodyear’s broader mission: to bridge the gap between real-road transport and the high-pressure demands of truck racing – and to drive innovation on both sides.
The TER will see drivers compete across different vehicle categories – from diesel trucks to electric-powered models – making it a unique opportunity to explore what efficiency means in diverse contexts.
“This is about more than speed – it’s about precision, strategy, and a mindset shift in how we approach commercial driving,” says Georg Fuchs, Managing Director of ETRA.
From Track to Road: Real-World Impact
Goodyear has been a key player in the European Truck Racing Championship since 2003, continuously advancing tyre technology to push the boundaries of race truck performance. The Goodyear FIA ETRC serves as a platform for testing next-generation tyre solutions, with insights gained from the racetrack influencing the development of Goodyear’s commercial truck tyres.
At the start of the 2025 season, Goodyear unveiled a race truck tyre made from 55% sustainable materials – a milestone that demonstrates how motorsport can be a testing ground for tomorrow’s transport solutions. In addition to their tyre innovation, Goodyear has been retreading used race tyres for on-road use, reducing waste and extending product life.
With Goodyear’s expertise in high-performance tyre development and sustainability – and their role as an engaged partner of both the ETRC and the TER – the Truck Efficiency Run is set to showcase a new kind of excellence: where track performance drives real-world progress toward a cleaner, more sustainable transport future.
